Five-year crime arrest trends for Cook County show that the only crimes to see more arrests by 2015 were motor vehicle theft (12.5%) and arson (12.8%). Property crime arrests include 1,902 bookings for burglary, 16,855 theft arrests, 3,094 for motor vehicle theft, and 97 arson arrests. A breakdown of the county’s arrest statistics shows that homicide, rape, robbery, and assault accounted for 306, 407, 2,060, and 2,630 arrests, respectively. There were 27,378 arrests in Cook County in 2015. Over the last five years, rape, robbery, burglary, theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson reports declined by 3.7%, 30.3%, 46.5%, 21.8%, 45%, and 25.3%, respectively. Besides theft, other incidences of property crimes in Cook County include 156 burglaries, 134 motor vehicle thefts, and 11 arsons.Ĭompared to 2011 figures, the five-year crime trend for Cook County shows that homicide (6.4%) and aggravated assault (2.5%) rates rose while the incidences of other crimes decreased. There were also 4 homicides, 61 rapes, and 37robberies. Among violent crimes, aggravated assault had the highest figure, with 129 incidents.
